Italy cruised to a 75-49 home triumph over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday night but they have no chance of securing a top two place in EuroBasket Women qualifying Group B.

Kathrin Ress had 19 points and four rebounds to lead the Italians, who improved to 4-3 in Group B behind Turkey and Poland with one game remaining.

Both the Turks and Poles are 5-1.

The first- and second-place teams seal places at the EuroBasket Women while the best third-place team will also earn a trip to Riga, Latvia, for the final round.

The Azzurre all but secured victory by half-time after outscoring the Bosnians 27-8 in the second quarter for a 41-21 lead.

The lead ballooned to 26 early in the third and there was no way back for the visitors.

Simona Ballardini had 14 points for Italy, who also got eight points and six rebounds from center Eva Giauro.

Biljana Savic had 14 points and five rebounds for the Bosnians (1-5).

Italy's women finish their campaign against Turkey.

    Kathrin Ress, Italy player:

"This group is fantastic; after our losses to Poland and Turkey we wanted to show that we are a good team. We are young and inexperienced as a team, even if we will go to the Additional Qualifying Round I still believe that our National team improved on many aspects this summer."

    Giampiero Ticchi, Italy coach:

"My team is very young, playing their last game with a possibility to qualify for EuroBasket was our goal. And now we go to Turkey without any pressure...  I would like to congratulate my team. They worked a lot in the last two months, they showed how the National team is important for them. Today we won in defense."

Azra Becirovic, Bosnia and Herzegovia player:

"Congratulations to Italy. Like in Sarajevo we had a correct approach but we missed concentration in the second period and they scored many easy baskets on our turnovers. It's important for our team to get experience but we must avoid the Relegation Round. We have two important games, now."

Zoran Mikes, Bosnia and Herzegovina coach:

"We didn't respect our game plan and when you play against good teams like Italy are, you surely lose. We had a good start but in the second quarter we couldn't handle their full court pressing. We had a reaction in the third period, it is important for us to reduce the gap because we want to remain in Division A and we have the same points with Finland"
