Israel have suffered their first loss of the EuroBasket Women's qualification campaign after Ukraine eked out a narrow 66-63 win in Ramat Gan on Saturday night.

Coming off Wednesday's 93-39 rout of Germany, Ukraine were made to work much harder this time around but came through thanks to a big night from Olexandra Gorbunova who had 18 points and eight rebounds.

Olena Ogorodnikova also had a huge night, shooting seven of nine (78%) from the field en route to 18 points.

Ukraine had a healthy 38-27 lead at half-time, but saw their lead evaporate in the final quarter to set up a tense finish.

Israel wasted 22 points and 10 rebounds from Shay Doron and 18 points from Liron Cohen.

Ukraine improve to 3-1 with the victory and top Group A.

Israel had enjoyed victories over Lithuania and Germany in their games so far prior to this fixture.
