Ukraine are hoping to obtain Valeriya Berezhynskaya's visa for Latvia in time for the 22-year-old center to play at the EuroBasket Women.
Berezhynskaya was due to arrive in Kiev on a flight from America on Tuesday after taking part in WNBA tryouts in Miami.
Ukraine coach Volodymyr Bryukhovetskiy and his squad are already in the Baltics where they have been putting the finishing touches on their preparations.
The team has played three scrimmage games at Lithuania, winning one, and they also played at Latvia three days ago and lost 79-62.
On Tuesday, they will go up against Turkey.
If Berezhynskaya does make it to Latvia, Bryukhovetskiy will have to cut one of the 12 players who is already with the squad.
Ukraine will face the Czech Republic, Spain and Slovakia in Group A of the Preliminary Round at the EuroBasket Women.
