Anne Breitreiner scored seven of her game-high 31 points late in the game but the scoring machine wasn't able to lead Germany past Israel.

Shay Doron had 23 points as Israel held on for a 68-66 triumph - their second in Group A of EuroBasket Division A.

Breitreiner, who played for Germany last year at the EuroBasket Women in Italy, buried a jumper to pull her team to within 68-66 with 52 seconds left in the game.

Doron then had her lay-up blocked by Lisa Koop but Israel grabbed the offensive rebound.

Margret Skuballa came up with a steal for the home side, though, picking Ekaterina Abramzon of Israel clean to give Germany a chance to tie or win at the end.

But Breitreiner had the ball stolen by Liad Suez Karni with four seconds remaining as the Israelis held on for the win.

"We played great tonight and were stronger than in the friendly games before. We did not lose the game in the last minute but in the first half when Israel scored 40 points. So they deserved to win."
