Turkey will join Russia and Lithuania in Riga for the Qualifying Round after downing Serbia 65-55 to finish with a record of two-and-one in Group D.

Serbia knew that they had an almost impossible mission coming into the game.  They needed to beat Turkey by 13 to go on to the next round, and except for a brilliant second quarter, they didn't even come close to putting up a serious challenge for the win.

Serbia will get its last chance to get a win in Eurobasket Women 2009 today against a Turkish team coming off a big win yesterday over Lithuania.

Turkey is now 1-1 in Group C and have one foot in the next round.

Reigning champions Russia rolled their way into the 2009 EuroBasket Women Qualifying Round with another dominating defensive display in a 72-37 victory over Serbia.

Valeriy Tikhonenko's Russians started the game on an 11-0 run while holding Serbia without a basket for nearly the first seven minutes and never looked back.
